As a designer and artist, my vision is always connected to feelings and emotions. I'm passionate about challenging political issues throughout my works. As I'm almost finished with my BA in fashion design, I'm excited to see where my artistic journey goes next, and what future challenges will arise that I can challenge through my future works. Inspiration
vulvation: my graduate collection
Vulvation is a collection that celebrates every aspect of the female body, highlighting its fleshy, material beauty. In 2022 the U.S. Supreme courts overturning of Roe v. Wade and the attacks on Iranian women protesting for their rights collided simultaneously. The strength and tenacity of female protesters worldwide who continually fight for their rights are the original inspiration for this collection that glorifies the female form.
Materials
Anatomically Inspired
The fleshy folds of female genitalia are a focal point as an act of defiance and reclamation of feminine power represented through ruffles and ruching details. Menstruation is present through red colored fringing. Hand embroidered nipple patches are used throughout some garments./Circular bodily forms of breasts and ovaries are shown through overarching silhouettes. Sheer and opaque fabrics are used for exposing the skin underneath, and shades of nude are seen throughout for the unity of all women.
